Hotel Rossia

Hotel Rossia, a large Soviet era monolith, at its time, was one of the world’s largest hotels and the largest in Europe. Located beside the Red Square, between the Kremlin and the Moscow river embankment, this 3-star 3,300-room hotel occupied 11 hectares of some of the prime real estate in the world.

In December 2004, ST Development won the tender organized by Moscow City Government for the redevelopment of Hotel Rossia. During 2005, the concept design was updated and refined, surveys and consultations with interest groups were carried out, and compensation agreements with former tenants were signed prior to relocation. The hotel was closed at the end of 2005.

The redeveloped project will include a state of the art concert hall, museum, luxury hotels, serviced apartments, office and retail space and a large underground car park with a retail mall.

All churches and buildings of historic value in the area will be preserved and restored. The project also foresees the reconstruction of a demolished landmark - the Saint Nicholas (Nikola Mokry) church, which will be rebuilt in its original historic form.
